Starting a New Year
You know the scenario well – think up things that you want to change come January 1 each year. You might write a list and stick it on your fridge – to get fit, lose weight, stop smoking or get the work/life balance right. But how do you actually achieve these resolutions.
- Know the difference between wishful thinking and unrealistic expectations. Set yourself realistic goal(s) and making a detailed plan full of all the little steps you need to take.
- If one of your goals is to lose weight, then you need to de-junk your pantry and fridge first. Bring your wheelie bin into the kitchen, open the pantry, fridge and freezer and throw out every bit of crap food in your house.
- Think “Whole Year” – nothing big gets accomplished in one day. Resolutions are set in one day, but accomplished with a hundred tiny steps that happen throughout the year. New Year’s resolutions should be nothing more than a starting point. You must develop a ritual or habit for revisiting your plan.
- JUST DO IT.
