Juicing

Juicing offers plenty of health benefits, especially if you struggle to get your recommended 5 serves of vegetables a day. Fresh juices are the best because unfortunately some of the ready-made juices that you can buy from stores and supermarkets contain virtually no nutrients due to the pasteurisation process. Here are a few juices to get you started.

Great hydration juice for summer

  • 1 apple
  • 1 carrot (peeled and trimmed)
  • 2 celery stalks
  • 225g mixed berries
  • 2cm root ginger

To boost your energy level

  • 1 cooked beetroot, peeled and trimmed
  • 2 carrots, peeled and trimmed
  • 100g baby spinach
  • 1/4 cucumber

To increase your folate intake (great for pregnant women for healthy foetal development)

  • 4 small broccoli florets
  • 3 apples
  • Juice of 1/2 lime

Cleansing and refreshing juice

  • 15g wheatgrass
  • 2 apples
  • 115g peeled honeydew melon chunks
  • 1/4 cucumber
