Below are some of events that you can participate in:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Parkrun (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.parkrun.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\">parkrun.com.au<\/a>) &#8211;\u00a0free, weekly, 5 km timed runs held at various locations all over Sydney (Campbelltown, Curl Curl, Mosman, Parramatta and St Peters) and Australia.<\/li>\n<li>Mother\u2019s Day Classic (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mothersdayclassic.com.au\/event\/nsw\/sydney\" target=\"_blank\">mothersdayclassic.com.au<\/a>) \u2013 4 or 8 km run\/walk at either the Domain or Parramatta Park (Sunday 11 May 2014).<\/li>\n<li>Sydney Half Marathon (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.smhhalfmarathon.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\">smhhalfmarathon.com.au<\/a>) \u2013 21.1 km through the streets of Sydney (Sunday 18 May 2014).<\/li>\n<li>Mini Mos (<a href=\"http:\/\/mini-mos.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">mini-mos.com<\/a>) \u2013 2 km, 5 km and 10 km fun run through the streets of Mosman (Sunday 15 June 2014).<\/li>\n<li>Sydney Harbour 10k (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sydneyharbour10k.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\">sydneyharbour10k.com.au<\/a>) \u2013 10 km run around\u00a0Barangaroo and Darling Harbour\u00a0(Sunday 13 July 2014).<\/li>\n<li>Sutherland 2 Surf (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sutherland2surf.com.au\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">sutherland2surf.com.au<\/a>) \u2013 11 km fun run from Sutherland to Wanda Surf Club\u00a0(Sunday 20 July 2014).<\/li>\n<li>City2Surf (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.city2surf.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\">city2surf.com.au<\/a>) \u2013 14 km from the city to Bondi Beach (Sunday 10 August 2014).<\/li>\n<li>Sydney Running Festival (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sydneyrunningfestival.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\">sydneyrunningfestival.com.au<\/a>) \u2013 four events\/distances \u2013 3.5 km (family fun run), 9 km (bridge run), 21.1 km (half marathon) and 42.2 km (marathon) \u2013 starting from\u00a0Milson\u2019s Point and crossing over the Sydney Harbour Bridge\u00a0(Sunday 21 September 2014).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If running is not for you, there are walks that you can train for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Bloody Long Walk (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloodylongwalk.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\">bloodylongwalk.com.au<\/a>) \u2013 35 km walk along the coastline from Palm Beach to North Head (Sunday 19 October 2014).<\/li>\n<li>7 Bridges Walk (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.7bridgeswalk.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\">7bridgeswalk.com.au<\/a>) \u2013 27 km circuit around Sydney Harbour over 7 bridges (Sunday 26 October 2014).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As we head into winter, one way to keep yourself motivated and active is to train for running events.
