Get The Most Out Of Your Workouts
Some of us train within our comfort zones, but if you keep doing the same thing all the time you won’t see any improvements. If you’re not trimming down, toning up, or feeling any fitter, it could be because you’ve hit a plateau. There are many reasons why this can happen, but you can change things up and get back to achieving results.

Medications and Food
It is important that before taking any medication, you should read the package instructions (and/or check with your doctor or pharmacist) about any dietary precautions. This is because some medications may alter your nutritional needs while some foods can interfere with how a medication works. For example, some cholesterol-lowering medications can reduce the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (vitamins A, D, E and K) or foods that are rich in vitamin K (essential for clotting blood) can interfere with blood thinners like Warfarin.
The National Prescribing Service (NPS) provides independent, evidence-based information about medicines and medical tests. The NPS works with health professionals, consumers, government and industry to improve the health of all Australians. You can search their database for up-to-date information on over 1,500 prescription and pharmacist-only medicines, including potential side effects. Their website address is www.nps.org.au.
Spring Into Shape Series
If you have been training for the City to Surf and the Blackmores Running Festival, you may want to add the Spring Into Shape Series in your calendar, while also raising funds for the Heart Foundation.
The Shape Sydney Series will be held at Parramatta Park on Saturday, 8 October and Saturday, 5 November. The course offers a choice of a 4 km run/walk or a 8 km run/walk. By maintaining the same course distances across the two race series it allows participants to increase and gauge their fitness improvement. You can enter the series or a single event – it’s up to you. For more information, click on the link below.
