Spring Events

You know it’s spring when there are plenty of organised outdoor health and fitness events for everyone. Below is a list of upcoming events that you and/or your family can participate in here in Sydney. You can also just take the family out cycling, canoeing, play tennis, kick a football or throw a frisbee in the park. Come on…when was the last time you threw a frisbee?

  • Neon Run (10 October): A 5 km night-time run (around the Domain and Royal Botanic Garden) with four unique neon zones of rock, disco, pop and house featuring lasers, black lights, strobes, dancers, and DJ contests. [neonrun.com.au]
  • Spartan Race (11 October): If you’re after something a bit more hardcore, this is it. Race against the clock, scaling walls, running through mud, swimming dams, jumping fires and climbing ropes. Kids from 3-14 years can do a modified version of the course. [spartanrace.com.au]
  • Ride2Work Day (15 October): Ditch the car or public transport and commute to work by bike. As an added incentive, free community breakfasts are held across the country to celebrate the morning commute on two wheels. [bicyclenetwork.com.au/general/programs/996/]
  • The Bloody Long Walk (19 October): 35 km walk along the coastline from Palm Beach to North Head. [bloodylongwalk.com.au]
  • Spring Cycle (19 October): You cycle from North Sydney to either Pyrmont (15 km) or Olympic Park (55 or 100 km). [springcycle.com.au]
  • Sculpture by the Sea (23 October to 9 November): A 2 km long temporary sculpture park along the Bondi Beach to Tamarama Beach coastal walk. [sculpturebythesea.com]
  • 7 Bridges Walk (26 October): A 27 km closed loop circuit walk that travels clockwise around Sydney Harbour. [7bridgeswalk.com.au]
  • Gong Ride (2 November): You can choose either the 90 km long course (from St Peters) or the 58 km short course (from Engadine). [msgongride.org.au]
  • Run Sydney (2 November): Half Marathon, 10 km and 3 km courses running past all the iconic venues from the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games [runsydney.com]
  • Tough Mudder (15 & 16 November): A 20 km obstacle course in the Southern Highlands designed to test all-around strength, stamina, teamwork and mental grit. [toughmudder.com.au]
  • Bondi to Bronte Ocean Swim (7 December): Approximately 2.4 km swim from Bondi Beach to Bronte Beach. [bonditobronte.com.au]
